I maintain GIF Compressor Online as a focused utility for people who need to make an animated GIF smaller without turning a quick task into a full editing session. I often use GIFs while developing, documenting bugs, writing product notes, and sharing quick visual examples with other people. The problem is familiar: the GIF looks fine, but the exported file is too large for chat, email, a support ticket, or a website upload. Downloading a desktop compressor feels heavy for a one-minute task, and many online tools either hide what happens to the file, add too many steps, or produce a result that is smaller but visibly worse.

Maintainer notes

The site is maintained around one narrow promise: choose a small batch of GIFs, compress them in the browser, compare each result, and download the outputs. The maintainer focus is to keep that workflow understandable, test the actual browser behavior, and avoid adding claims that the tool cannot support.

Current limits

The tool accepts up to five GIFs, with a 50 MB limit per file and a 100 MB total batch limit, and keeps output as animated .gif files. The homepage offers two lossy compression modes; the GIF Optimizer adds a lossless mode. The Discord and Reduce GIF Size pages check outputs against a selected size budget without automatically adjusting compression settings or guaranteeing a target size. Server-side uploads, resizing, trimming, WebP/MP4 conversion, ZIP downloads, and Discord account integration are not provided.

Roadmap

The roadmap is to add useful controls only when they make results easier to judge. Better before-and-after guidance, clearer failure messages, optional resize or trim advice, and more scenario pages are more valuable than a cluttered panel full of settings most people will never need.
